A ROOF IN CONFIDENCE
The EARTHQUAKE CENTER was designed in Beşiktaş, in the most central location of Istanbul, the metropolitan province of Turkey, which is located within the earthquake zone. This design, which is designed as a complex structure, consists of four main buildings, "Memorial Museum, Conference Center, Library and Simulation Center". Library, Conference Center and Landscape areas are left to the city to provide 24/7 service.
The souvenir museum in a complex structure located on the south side of the earthquake museum is an area that welcomes the visitors. With the aged concrete texture on the exterior of this building, it is aimed to create different feelings for the visitors. The "Earthquake Monument", which welcomes us when we enter the building, becomes a "Monumental" by giving the appearance of debris with the merging of concrete blocks collapsed on top of each other. Full Realistic animations about earthquakes are made inside this Monument.
With the ramp inside the monument, both the details of the building can be read and the daylight is allowed to enter through the gaps left on the eastern façade of the Memorial Museum, giving the visitors a sense of the emotional atmosphere intended during their visiT.
The "Memory Garden" located in the Conference Center has made this building a green roof and symbolized some situations. For the '27' earthquake that took place in the history of the Republic of Turkey and had a devastating effect, 27 spaces were left on the roof so that visitors could read the 'Memorial Garden' on the roof reaching the entrance level of the Conference Center when they looked from the courtyard of this complex building.
